The first thing you need to do before writing your blog content is what we call keyword research. I have written a blog on this topic entitled “ 7 Tips to boost your SEO ranking in google “
Once you have done proper keyword research, here are the top 10 things I would do to boost my listing in the google search engines.
- Put your keyword in your Blog Title.
Once you have decided on the keyword you would like to rank for you want to put that keyword in your Blog Title.
- Put your keyword in your Meta Description
The next step is to put that keyword that you are trying to rank for in your Meta Title. This is the title part that show up in google. I explain this in detail in my blog “ 7 Tips to boost your SEO ranking in google “
- Put your keyword in your Meta Title
The next thing is to put that keyword in your blogs Meta Description. I also show you how to do that in my blog “ 7 Tips to boost your SEO ranking in google “
- Put your keyword within the first paragraph of your Content
Now when you start writing the content on your website or blog you want to put your keyword within the first paragraph of your content. That way google knows that this article is related to that certain keyword.
- Put at least one in bound link
You also want to put a link to another one of your pages on your website or blog. You can do this by going to a page on your website, copying the URL and put a link to it from one of the words in your content.
- Put at least one outbound link
You also want to put an outbound link to an authoritative website. I usually use Wikipedia as it works well.
The way you do this is by going to Wikipedia and finding a topic that your blog talks about. Then copy the url of that page and add it as a hyperlink to a word from within your blog
- Put your keyword in your image alt tag.
The next thing you want to do is add your keyword to the alt tag of an image in your blog post. If you are not sure how to do this I also cover this in my blog “ 7 steps to boost your SEO ranking in google “
- Write your content with the user in mind
When it comes to SEO a lot of people focus on optimizing their content for search engines, but what we should really be doing is optimizing our content for the user experience. If people are coming to your blog and staying google likes that, but if they come and leave because their user experience is not good, google doesn’t like that.
So, don’t write your content for search engines write your content for the user.
- Promote your website/blog on social media
This is the step that most people leave out and that is promoting your website or blog. What good is it to have a well written article or an amazing website, but no one know about it.
The next thing you want to do is promote your website or blog on twitter, Facebook, linked In, and Pinterest.
- Make a YouTube video about your new website or blog and put a link to your page.
The last thing that you should do is make a YouTube video promoting your website or blog content. Believe it or not, just like google is a search engine, so is YouTube and you can get a lot of traffic from YouTube if you promote your content there.
So, there you have it the importance of SEO when it come to marketing your website or blog. If you do these simple things on a consistent basis you will see an increase of the amount of traffic to your website or blog.
Keep in mind that in order to see results from SEO could take from 3 months on up to 6 months, but when your content starts to rank in google it will stay there for a long time.
Yes, paid ads with get you to the top quick, but organic traffic with get you to the top longer.
